The Vietnam Maritime Archeology Project started in 2008 with the main activities of inspecting and assessing some relics, archaeological values and determining the distribution of cultural vestiges of the Van Don ancient port. A number of artifacts and two sites at New Rock Age have been discovered. These are important evidence, affirming the cultural and historical values of the ancient port of Van Don. However, experts also warned that some relics in this area have not yet been planned, localized or under the plan for economic-tourism projects of Van Don Special Economic Zone. Therefore, the localization of these relics should be done to protect and serve research in the future.
